Our High-Level Solution to Handle Influx of PPP Loan Applications

The PPP had a significant impact on our client, a mid-sized local bank in the northeast. Shortly after the program was announced loan applications started flooding in, and soon over 6,000 loan applications needed to be processed. With their communities and small businesses depending upon them, the bank contacted Hire Counsel to provide temporary legal staff to assist with loan documentation. Within hours, Hire Counsel had identified, vetted and hired a team of Special Project Attorneys with lending backgrounds, who began processing the loans that very same week.

Our High-Level Approach to Managing a Second Request

The stakes were high when a Second Request required Hire Counsel to procure staff, technology and infrastructure in a single market within a week.

Hire Counsel Solution. We tapped our national database of 50,000 legal professionals to source a candidate pool of 1,500 experienced document reviewers. We employed more than 300 legal professionals, all of whom were prepared for work on time and within the client’s budget. Simultaneously, Hire Counsel acquired a 12,000 square foot review center, equipped it with state-of the art technology and software, and ensured that all security measures were in place. We stocked the office with supplies and amenities to make it a comfortable working environment for the review staff. The review center was open 7 days/week from 6am to midnight for several months to accommodate the large number of document reviewers.

Contract Management Overload? We Got This!

By outsourcing legal support, our client’s General Counsel was able to free up time to work on other substantive legal matters, which translates into increased productivity, efficiency, workload balance, and optimized resource utilization in the legal team.

Our Multi-Site Approach for a Mega-Scale Document Review

Hire Counsel’s ability to provide high-quality, high-volume, multi-site document review makes us the preferred single-source provider of managed review services for many of our clients.

High Growth Litigation Boutique Extends Staff Capability

Our client, a boutique law firm experiencing rapid growth in a highly focused litigation and arbitration niche, required immediate attorney support to meet expanding workloads in its drafting and motion practice. Cyclical surges in projected attorney utilization coupled with the minimal availability of client human resource and project management resources required a flexible yet predictable staffing program and supporting economic model. The client needed on-demand managed staff available under a subscription-based billing model.

A Multi-State, High-Volume Managed Review Challenge

Our client, a nationally known law firm with a broad and deep focus in a wide range of practice areas, required extensive legal review attorney support in eight geographically dispersed locations across the Eastern and the Midwestern United States, for a short-term, high-volume project. The large size of the project coupled with the compressed deadline for core project completion required an accelerated yet comprehensive staffing program that would allow the client to scale to meet project needs while ensuring alignment of cost approaches for multi-location operations. The client required hundreds of reviewers available within 30 days to initiate and complete a multi-state 90-day project.

FCPA and AML Investigations with the Department of Justice

Our client, a large government contractor, supports the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) which regularly conducts large-scale Foreign Corruption Practice Practices Act (FCPA) and Ant-Money Laundering (AML) investigations in support of the federal government. With a workflow approaching 400+ cases, the client was interested in evaluating outside investigation support to supplement their in-house investigation teams. Given the nature of FCPA and AML investigations, the client required a large multi-lingual attorney team with previous investigatory experience. The hope of the DOJ was that the outsourced investigation team would not only provide short-term support for a single pilot project but that the team would become a permanent part of DOJ available resources for FCPA and AML investigations.

The Multi-Million Dollar Question

Our client, a medium-sized publicly-traded network technology company was engaged in an acquisition of a technology portfolio company that included an assembly facility, distribution channel and revenue growth. During initial due diligence, a significant volume of technology licensing arrangements, billable agreements and outstanding notes were identified. Our client realized that to truly understand the asset/risk portfolio they needed somebody familiar with not only the technology business, but somebody who could advise on their findings relevant to the intended transaction. In-House Legal needed to find an economical solution to handle this critical path and had limited In-House resources to supervise the work.

California Water Law Expert and Blogger

Our client required an attorney with an expertise in California State Water Law to provide informative blog posts on various topics. Our client was providing a service to their own client where they would provide these posts. However, when it came to finding a candidate who could provide the expertise needed, they were coming up short.

Enterprise Solution for Global Research Firm

Our client, a Fortune 200 company, was seeking an enterprise solution that would leverage best in class service on-demand and allow its internal staff to focus on complex economic and legal analysis. The work assignments would require immediate turnaround on a variety of tasks requiring total accuracy. The needs would come from case teams throughout their domestic offices. To meet procurement expectations, a fixed fee model that delivered total precession was essential.

Quality Assurance Delivered Early Generating Cost Savings

Our client was facing an immovable two week deadline and needed over 13,000 lines of data with approximately 100,000 cells, analyzed and validated. A large volume of paper documents added further complexity to the work plan and concerns over a previous reconciliation contributed to the challenge. The results had to be error free in order to be utilized for trial materials.

Contract Professionals 101: Effective guidance for building effective document review teams

Faced with a looming deadline to review and produce massive discovery, and with no prior experience working with contract attorneys, the client was looking to partner with a review management provider who had the experience to counsel them on the process end to end. They needed a team that could educate first-time users to work effectively with contract employees – a team that would be present throughout the document review project to insure their review was conducted on time, on budget, with superior legal staffing.

On Demand Review Management

Hire Counsel received a call from an Am Law 100 firm the Sunday before Thanksgiving informing Hire Counsel that they would need 60 attorneys, office space and computers for a document review that was to commence the Monday after Thanksgiving. The document review was for a copyright infringement matter that was expected to last approximately 4 months.

Being There 24/7/365 – When you Need It, We Build It

During a document review process, our client asked their outside counsel located in a major metropolitan area to house 15 Hire Counsel contract attorneys at their offices. The cost for conducting the review in this major market would have been substantially more than the client wanted to pay. Our client’s co-counsel, located in Las Vegas, agreed to supervise the project, but did not have space to house the document review.

Meeting the Demands of Foreign Language Document Reviews

A global law firm representing international clients required contract attorneys proficient in numerous languages for document review projects taking place throughout the United States. The law firm sought a US-based, national, unified resource with offices in markets across the country to act as their single point of contact to source, identify and qualify multi-lingual contract attorneys. Further, the law firm required that the contract attorneys be located in local markets around the US, working from facilities provided by the review management provider.

Contracts Administration for a Fortune 100 Biotechnology Company

Our client, a Fortune 100 Biotechnology Company, needed experienced contracts administrators to assist their contracts procurements and operations legal department on a full-time basis to cope with an unanticipated increase of new drug research and marketing agreements. Specifically, they needed all levels of contracts specialist for document management, negotiation, redlining, drafting, of biotechnology, pharmaceutical, managed care and clinical trials agreements that included multiple, GSAs, SOWs and NDAs.

Unpredictable Legal Needs Call for A Long-Term Strategy

Our client, a large financial services company was looking for interim attorneys to assist the legal department on a part-time basis to cover unexpected influxes of technology contracts. Specifically, they needed attorneys who specialize in drafting, reviewing and negotiating technology contracts such as software licenses, service agreements, task orders and NDA’s.

Managing High-Volume, Process Driven Legal Work Cost-Effectively

Our client, a large international law firm, had engaged with a large financial institution to defend its large-scale portfolio of lawsuits relating to mortgage modifications and foreclosures. The financial institution encouraged our client to charge a flat fee for each claim, and because of this arrangement, our client needed a solution for managing the voluminous portfolio work without the use of associates.

Interim General Counsel Fills Critical Gap During Government Audit

Our client, a large healthcare organization who was going through a government audit and investigation, was in need of an interim General Counsel. The client needed someone right away and was not able to find a full-time hire in such a short time frame. Also, the location of this healthcare organization was not in a very large legal market so it was difficult to find candidates with the healthcare and compliance experience they were looking for. They were looking for a candidate with strong experience with hospital/physician contracting including employment and practice acquisition as well as experience in Healthcare Fraud and Abuse laws including Anti-kickback and Stark Laws.
